As a girl with Aspergers, this could be telling the story of my life (except I didn't have Little Chef's Club) I drove people nuts talking. Their questions are our questions. Whereas Voyage is the story of what if Kennedy hadn't died and his space program continued to it's destination Mars, "The Mars Race" is a near future tale of how private enterprise could make the same trip with reasonably advanced current technology. It would be maybe even better if we were able to see a bit more of other characters that were introduced in book 1, but it's no major drawback. Sweeps aside conventional wisdom to what is proven.

Publisher’s Weekly wrote in a starred review, “Peter David (Knight Life) is a master at juggling multiple characters and plot lines. and The New York Botanical Garden to Good Housekeeping magazine. I'm a 41, and Faye (17) took me right back to my awkward, yet sweet times as a high school girl with a love interest. Do not read this story if you are under the age of consent in your country. All men, including Bushmen and so-called ‘uncivilized races’ have the elements and the Spirit within them, and they operate across a spectrum reflecting their environment and level of evolution. While I thought the original hardback was a bit too brief and rushed, the revisions answer all our questions. The POV (point-of-view) of an embryo growing into a fetus and then a new family member, experiencing the wonders of life and telling it from its first-person narration is truly creatively amazing. I read the first book in the series, The Doctor's Secret Bride and was hooked on this author. Not many authors joke quite as much as he does in telling the story, so it was somewhat new territory for me. The other characters were also realistically drawn – I thought the author really captured the tension between Faye and her Mum Brooke, and was reflective of the way that conflict between parents and children can manifest during the difficult teenage years.
