However, I found the last third or so of the book to be a little more of a chore to read, as it got a bit more serious, and lacked much of the humor found in the earlier parts of the book. It won't help much if kids can't identify with the main character. What I found was a path toward normal eating and sweet relief from the horrible cycle of dieting. It is a look at her history and how she came to be who she is today. As a teacher I've seen many girls like myself. King actually lets us know what happens in the end long before the last few pages through "interviews" and testimonials published from the Carrie White hearing papers. I really enjoy the wonderful anthologies for their variety of short stories, making so many authors available to me that I may not ever encounter otherwise. Tired of always eating sponges, Seymour Sea Turtle tries other dishes including coral and shellfish until he realizes how much he likes to eat sponge. "Actually this is a wonderful introduction to the story because the beautiful Canyon Springs location has the importance in the narrative of a major character.
